Seattle Documentary Family Photographer

Let your family be seen and loved, unconditionally

Imperfection Normalized

Chaos happens. Tantrums happen. Life happens. But it’s in the midst of all that happening where you build the real love and connection in your family. That’s the real you. That’s the family story I’m here to tell.

I know you see a million special things in every member of your family. I want to see them too. I’m here to document the extraordinary, the magical, and the magnificent in your quietest (and loudest) moments.

FALL IN LOVE WITH YOURSELVES AND THE LIFE YOU’RE CREATING.

Sooo what is “documentary family photography” exactly?

It’s your family’s life – as is. It’s your family’s love – perfectly unrefined.

It’s capturing moments that are magically mundane. It’s telling the true story of the love you nurtured in the home you made.

Documentary family photography meets you where you are (quite literally! It’s usually in the comfort of your home). You don’t have to coordinate your outfits, fake smiles or pretend you’re flawless. It’s the real you, honestly photographed.

Hi, I’m Laura.

I’m a “social introvert” who loves being around my people, but also wants to just stay home and knit. INFJ if you’re into the Myers-Briggs stuff. I love singing, am in a choir, and often get songs stuck in my head. I am a messy-but-craves-organization type of person, which I often blame on ADHD. The first time I picked up a camera was when I was 8-years-old to take pictures on family road-trips.

The moment I saw this type of photography I knew it was what I wanted to do. It started off when my first kiddo was born, and I was looking for a photographer to capture us in a way that spoke to me. I want nothing more and nothing less than for you to unapologetically love the life you’re living. I am not here to capture the idea of your family. I want to document the REAL THING!

Having Laura capture a day in our lives was a dream come true. Laura was able to capture the beauty in the mundane. Laura was calm and made everyone feel natural. The experience was wonderful but the magic is in the product. The photos fro our day in the life are something I will treasure forever. They are beautiful, emotional, natural, and they are us!

Let’s break the old model and make a new normal. A new normal that celebrates the ordinary. That documents the quirks. That helps you remember your realest moments.
